16:05 Lord Torranaga

This can go to LORD TORRANAGA, who won well at Wolverhampton last time and is bred to relish this longer trip. A 3lb rise may not prevent him following up. French Minstrel still appears to be improving and could prove the biggest danger, while Pledge Of Peace and Inside Intel look best of the rest.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

16:35 Polling Day

There was a lot to like about the way POLLING DAY won on debut over 1m2f at this track last month and it will be disappointing if he can’t follow up. Scampi looks likely to improve for the longer distance and rates the main danger. There are several well-bred newcomers in the line-up and Stowell might prove the best of them.

17:10 Ephemeral

French/German imports who recently started out in Britain appeal most, with EPHEMERAL favoured. Although sent off 6-4 at Wolverhampton last month, she very much shaped as if needing the run and the introduction of headgear should focus her. Fascinating Lips may need 1m4f, or at least a more galloping track, to really thrive but is worth keeping on side.

17:40 Goddess Of Fire

None of these are overly persuasive. Topanticipation should go well if coping with the drop back to 1m, while it may have been one race too many for Trixie Waterbury last time. The best option is GODDESS OF FIRE, a five-time winner for John Ryan, the last of which came in a 20-runner Doncaster contest in September. She shaped as if needing the run behind Luna Wish, who dictated, 13 days ago.

18:10 Elusif (NAP)

This looks best left to ELUSIF (nap), who recorded hat-tricks in 2019 and 2020, and he could be set for another good spell following his back-to-form success at Kempton last week. Gonzaga, Axel Jacklin and Knockout Blow, who clashed over C&D two weeks ago, can battle it out for the places.

18:40 Benefit Street

Lilkian is a good starting point as he looked value for further when getting Darryll Holland off to a perfect start as a trainer 12 days ago. However, BENEFIT STREET looks poised to come good for Robert Cowell. Connections paid 30,000gns for him in October and, with his best run for the trainer coming in a C&D 0-85 and him probably needing the run in a good race latest, he is the selection.

19:10 Saaheq

A few of these like to get on with it and Capla Spirit could be the main beneficiary if they go too hard. However, the vote goes to SAAHEQ, who has run well in defeat since landing a C&D Class 4 in February and was successful on one of only two previous starts in Class 5 company.

19:40 Lucky Ava

Swooper probably went into every notebook going last time but LUCKY AVA looks a safer option. She’s 2-2 over C&D and her Windsor second last week reads well.
