13:00 Smullen

Now that Tothenines is a non-runner, all of these are making their first start and the market will likely reveal plenty. SMULLEN makes most appeal for Kevin Ryan, who sent out another juvenile winner at the weekend and he seems to have his team in good shape, so the Camacho colt is chanced to make a perfect start to his career. Come Quick and Just Another are from yards that are very capable with juveniles, too.

New to Paddy Power?

13:30 Venturous

VENTUROUS has been prolific on the all-weather over the winter, and while he’s 14lbs higher than when last winning on turf, he’s 7lbs lower than his Wolverhampton win in March.

He handles any ground and comes out 5lbs clear on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, so is taken to quickly resume winning ways following a creditable effort at Lingfield last time. Mokaatil won this race two years ago off this mark and has to be feared also.

14:00 Red Tornado

RED TORNADO has performed with credit on his two most recent visits to this venue and, likely to strip fitter for his recent return, he makes most appeal in a fairly uncompetitive affair for the grade. Wemyss Point won this race in 2018 and he’s been in reasonable form on the all-weather lately, so has to be considered too.

14:30 Cote D’Azur

COTE D’AZUR is on a lengthy losing run, but is lurking on a dangerous mark – now 20lbs lower than last winning one – and, having been competitive off higher than this last year he could be the way to go.

He may have needed his reappearance run at Newcastle last time and could gain a long overdue victory here. Musahaba, who remains open to futher progress, has to be taken seriously on his second start for David O’Meara.

15:00 Dapper Man

DAPPER MAN is unpenalised for his win in an apprentice handicap at Ripon last Thursday, and he looks very hard to oppose over a course and distance he’s been successful at in the past. He seems sure to launch another bold bid back under Ben Curtis. John Davies seems to have his string in good form having had a winner and a second at Thirsk on Saturday, so Birdie Bowers could go well, too.

15:30 Scarlet Bear

SCARLET BEAR makes her first start for these connections having run creditably in pattern company for Tom Dascombe last year. She sets a clear standard on those runs and is very difficult to oppose now she drops into novice company looking for her first win. Twilight Spinner is out of a speedy mare who won here, and she is also interesting making her debut for David O’Meara.

16:00 Alba De Tormes

ALBA DE TORMES is proving progressive of late, and was only just denied by one who was well supported at Redcar last time. He should be able to build on that and go one better hereto gain a second career victory. Tellmeyourstory is unexposed and from a top yard, so she has to be taken seriously on handicap debut.
