13:30 Castle Star

This could boil down to a duel between two who finished second on debut. CASTLE STAR, just touched off at Cork by a rival with previous experience, is slightly preferred to Gaire Os Ard, who chased home a smart-looking filly at Naas. Aidan O’Brien’s newcomer Glounthaune is a brother to merely a low-grade 7 furlongs winner, but has a good middle-distance pedigree.

New to Paddy Power?

14:00 Missing Matron

Jim Bolger’s MISSING MATRON beat a subsequent winner first time out. With Cadamosto now a non-runner, Missing Matron is now a strong preference.

14:35 Lancaster House

Last year’s winner LANCASTER HOUSE may get his career back on track after finishing last on his final two starts of the season, one of which is readily forgivable, since he was a 100-1 chance in a Group 1 race.

Know It All could be a dangerous opponent if picking up where she left off last season, and last year’s second Speak In Colours has a solid place chance on overall form. If Brad The Brief gets the trip at the first attempt he could go close.

15:10 Broome

This looks an ideal opportunity for BROOME to continue the revival in form initiated when he accounted for six of these rivals at Naas. Joseph O’Brien runs three, of whom the highest-rated Numerian is also the one with race-fitness on his side, though he appears safely held by the selection on Naas running. Riding plans indicate that King Of Comedy is expected to better his Naas effort.

15:45 Wordsworth

A likely informative maiden. WORDSWORTH (NAP) hasn’t been seen since finding only subsequent Beresford Stakes winner High Definition too good on his only start here last August and the brother to Kew Gardens should prove smart over middle distances this year.

This trip is likely his minimum and he could face stiff opposition in Agrimony, an eye-catcher last autumn and a 2,000 Guineas entry. Zaynudin shaped nicely at Dundalk recently and warrants respect, while Port Philip looks the most interesting of the newcomers.

16:15 Hayyel

A very open look to this handicap. HAYYEL ended last season on a high and is taken to pick up where she left off, having run well fresh before. Still relatively lightly raced, she could still have more to offer and is now raised in class. Joseph O’Brien runs four, with Fame And Acclaim possibly the pick, though Never Forgotten is the dark horse of the race now entering handicap company.

16:50 Elanora

No doubt Blue Planet will head the market, and being out of an Australian sprinter could appreciate this trip. However, he is taken on with ELANORA, who finished a clear second in a Naas maiden over this trip last time.

Notoriously Risky is another to have already shown the speed for this sort of test and rates a definite threat in what could prove quite an open maiden.

17:25 Misterio

Luck will be needed here, something which MISTERIO deserves after two Dundalk runs which can be upgraded because of interference. Majeski Man is worth considering after showing improved form when tried over this trip for the first time on his final start last season.

Teddy Boy and Brave Display both shaped well on a first run of the season. Fit For Function is the most appealing of those drawn high.
