11:25 Say The Word

Dan Gun may have more improvement in him on his second start for Dan Skelton and commands major respect, but an interesting alternative is SAY THE WORD, for whom today’s drop in trip should be ideal. Badness Backfires, an encouraging fourth on his British debut, is another to consider, while at the foot of the weights Jalingo could outrun his likely odds.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

11:55 Rukwa

Dan Skelton’s mare Mabela has slipped to a good mark and might be boosted by the refitted cheeekpieces but the one to beat is RUKWA, who escapes a penalty for his convincing success at Huntingdon on Sunday and is only 1lb higher here. A Book Of Intrigue makes his debut for a new stable here and also looks interesting.

12:25 Crooks Peak

Discko Des Plages travelled well for a long way when second off today’s mark at Chepstow recently and this drop back from 2m3f may enable him to double his chasing tally but preference is for CROOKS PEAK, who ran well over hurdles at Exeter 11 days ago and remains on a very good mark for today’s return to chasing. Confidence in Tierra Verde would be higher on a right-handed track but he is also considered, along with Casa Tall.

12:55 Counteract

Two out of two over fences so far, COUNTERACT is unpenalised for his Plumpton success and has a good opportunity to complete a hat-trick. His dam was a useful chaser for the same stable and he has plenty of scope from a relatively lowly mark. Catlin, another progressive sort, is second choice, with chasing debutant Evenstevens another to consider.

13:25 William H Bonney (NAP)

It’s easy to make a strong case for Dog Of War, who made a very pleasing start to his chasing career at Exeter this month and remains lightly raced but WILLIAM H BONNEY (nap), a very useful hurdler in his prime, was behind a subsequent Aintree festival winner and two other subsequent winners when fourth at Newbury six weeks ago, and there is hope that today’s longer trip might suit him better nowadays.

Bangor

13:55 Interconnected

Not the most appealing race from a betting point of view. INTERCONNECTED has let favourite backers down twice already this season, but he still looks the likeliest winner and can hopefully gain a first success under rules. Lies About Milan is the obvious alternative, although he hasn’t looked on top form of late and needs the cheekpieces to have a positive effect. Just A Whim has to prove she wasn’t flattered by her fourth place at Haydock last time.

14:25 Moot Court

An unusually large field for a bumper around here. It’s possible to construct cases for quite a few, and one of the more appealing profiles is that of MOOT COURT, who has pointing experience and represents a good stable. Nicky Henderson’s Quickbuck is second choice, ahead of He’s A Knowall, who clocked a quicker time than Autumn Equinox when winning at Barbury. Welsh Wayne has a different background from most and needs watching in the market.
