14:10 Ebnzaidoon

John and Thady Gosden look to have a couple of strong fancies in this useful-looking minor event in the shape of EBNZAIDOON and Daddy Frank. The former perhaps has the most potential though, and he is taken to build on his promising efforts so far.

He finished third to a potentially smart sort on debut at Sandown in September and did progress despite finding one too good at Newcastle two weeks later. Ebnzaidoon is a lovely type physically, and you would think he has much more to offer this season.

14:40 Visibility

VISIBILITY looked like laying down a big challenge until tiring late on over a mile-and-a-quarter at Doncaster 11 days ago and might be worth siding with back over shorter from what still looks a fair mark, while his jockey can claim 5lbs in this race. February’s dual Southwell winner Straitouttacompton is equally effective on turf, so is much respected as he goes in search of a second career hat-trick.

15:10 Copinet

James Ferguson has enjoyed a fruitful stint on the all-weather over the winter and his COPINET looks very interesting now making her handicap debut switched to turf. She has done nothing but progress since making her debut at Wolverhampton in September, still not looking the finished article when opening her account in November. But, she looked decidedly useful when following up under a penalty dropped to 5 furlongs at Lingfield last month.

Copinet showed plenty of speed that day and was value for extra than the 2-and-a-half length winning margin suggests. There is no reason why she shouldn’t prove equally as effective on turf and an opening mark of 80 probably underestimates her.

15:40 Muker

This looks a trappy contest and slight preference is for MUKER, who developed into a speedy and useful juvenile last season. He won two of his four starts, while also finishing a good third in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Muker wasn’t disgraced against his elders in a Group 3 at Dundalk when last seen in October and looks the one to beat on these terms. It would be folly to ignore the chances of Warrior Brave though, who is well regarded and is probably open to more progress than most.

16:10 Sir Ron Priestley

An interesting Listed event where SIR RON PRIESTLEY makes plenty of appeal on his return to action. Admittedly, he has a 19-month absence to overcome, but he was most progressive in 2019, winning useful handicaps at Haydock and Goodwood before opening his account in pattern company in the March Stakes. He started 7/1 when beaten only by the very smart Logician in the St Leger at Doncaster when last seen, which is by far the best form on offer here.

His absence isn’t much of a concern given he represents the Mark Johnston yard who have typically made a quick start to the season, and he will likely be straight enough for this return. Sir Ron Priestley is the type to progress again, and this looks an ideal starting point.

16:40 Turn On The Charm

TURN ON THE CHARM can boast some solid handicap form from last year, opening his account at Kempton in August before following up from a 6lbs lower mark over course and distance on his next start.

He failed to complete the hat-trick at Redcar on his final start in October, but he shaped much better than the bare result on that occasion – racing up the centre of the track when there was a big bias for those who raced on the far side. A strong-travelling type, he should have even more to offer as a four-year-old, and still appeals as being well handicapped on his return to action.

17:10 Annandale

Several of these are armed with potential, not least ANNANDALE, who was progressive last term and continued on the up when just touched off by an unbeaten Godolphin horse on return at Doncaster. Turned out again off the same mark, he’ll take plenty of stopping. Encourage will be suited by this step up in trip and is feared most.
