13:00 Riggs

Out of their depth in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham last time, Ask A Honey Bee and Beatthebullet will find this much more to their liking. However, both lack the recent impressive form of RIGGS, who is taken to return to winning ways over a trip which should suit. Ask A Honey Bee may give him most to do.

13:30 Hurricane Ali (NAP)

Irish import Some Spin is probably better than he has shown in Britain so far but he has it to prove so the vote goes to HURRICANE ALI (nap), who may well be able to defy his penalty for winning tidily at Southwell ten days ago. The dangers are headed by Chapati, Cape Fair and White Turf, with the last-named feared most.

14:05 Eclair D’Ainay

Most of these have been struggling to translate hurdling form to fences so the safest option may be to keep faith in top weight ECLAIR D’AINAY, whose usually fluent jumping may get his rivals in trouble. He has to prove himself over this longer distance but conditions are unlikely to place too much emphasis on stamina and he can return to winning ways, possibly at the main expense of Notre Pari. Oski may be the best of the rest.

14:40 Mega Yeats

After taking a big step forward when scoring on her handicap debut last time, Blarney Bateleur warrants consideration along with the consistent Stormy Flight and Guernesey, who didn’t get the rub of the green at Newbury last time. Chinwag is an obvious threat but he has never raced on good going or firmer and has something to prove if the ground rides as forecast. A chance is taken, then, on MEGA YEATS, who should have derived benefit from her recent run over hurdles and shouldn’t have any problems with underfoot conditions. Blarney Bateleur may prove the biggest danger.

15:10 Oscar Asche

Having caught the eye at Market Rasen last time, and given her stable’s form, it was very tempting to row in with Off The Hook. However, there is a slight stamina doubt so better value may be had with OSCAR ASCHE, who showed clear signs of a revival last time and may be ready to add to his sole hurdling success. The pair could fight out the finish, with handicap debutant Animal and Frisco Bay looking best of the others.

15:40 Getaway Mag

The ground was soft when GETAWAY MAG ran out of steam at Market Rasen in December but she had looked promising when winning at Southwell previously. She is readily given another chance, though there are plenty of options among her rivals who mostly have the form to figure off their current marks. Boughtbeforelunch should be involved again but Lord Getaway has form in better races than this and he could be the main danger back from a break.

16:15 Chase The Wind

Few of these arrive in good form but at least CHASE THE WIND hinted at better on his latest start and the prospect of faster ground is a positive for him. He may be able to improve on a poor chasing strike-rate, possibly at the main expense of top weight Unai.

16:45 Game On For Glory

Given their stables’ record in bumpers, newcomers Corey’s Courage and Marmalaid need close scrutiny in the betting market. Either may be good enough to make a winning debut, but Get A Tonic and GAME ON FOR GLORY have previous experience and the latter gets a narrow vote over the Skeltons’ representative following her pleasing second at Warwick.
