Only a handful of these make any serious appeal, with MONARCHOFTHEGRANGE getting the vote to come out on top having ran as well as his form entitled him to when finishing fourth in a useful handicap at Doncaster last month. This is an easier assignment and he can prove too strong for Barrichello, who has filled the runner-up spot on his last four starts and can again collect minor money.
13:45 Paricolor
PARICOLOR has underperformed on his last two outings, but has generally been a force to reckon with at this level, having won four times in similar events so far this season. Most of these have something to prove, so Paricolor is worth chancing to bounce back to form. Chieftain’s Choice, who was third in a similar event at Stratford on Monday, looks the chief threat.

14:15 Treshnish
This doesn’t look the strongest race of its type, so a chance is taken on TRESHNISH, who continues to fall in the handicap. Admittedly, a quick glance at his recent form figures suggests a big leap of faith must be taken, as he was beaten over 50 lengths over hurdles last time, and has failed to complete on three of his last four starts over fences.
However, he has recently undergone another round of wind surgery, and is now 19 lb below his last winning mark. Furthermore, the Sue Smith yard could hardly be in better form, and a bold bid is expected in a handicap that shouldn’t take much winning. Snougar and Tidal Watch may emerge as the main dangers.
14:50 Linelee King
Olly Murphy continues in good form and LINELEE KING looks the one to beat in this novice hurdle. He readily landed the odds in a weak race at Kelso in October, and has run some solid races in defeat since, not beaten far under this rider on his handicap debut at Southwell last time.
He looked the likeliest winner on that occasion, too, hitting 1.2 in running on Betfair, and he looks the solid choice in this field. Stop The World could perhaps be the one to give him most to do if ready to roll for his new yard after 6 months off.

15:20 Roxboro Road
ROXBORO ROAD left his previous form for this yard well behind when landing some nice bets in a handicap chase at Musselburgh earlier this month, belatedly capitalising on a falling mark, and he defied an 8 lb rise with ease when following up at this course last week, travelling on the bridle for a long way before readily asserting.
He switches back to hurdles now for the first time since October 2019, but he is clearly thriving at present, and looks a blot on the handicap able to race from the same mark. It will be a surprise if he doesn’t complete a hat-trick. Diamond Fort lurks on a dangerous mark also and could be a threat.
15:50 Sigurd
SIGURD has two ways of running, but at least he arrives on the back of a career-best win over this course and distance earlier this month, surging clear in the closing stages, so is taken to follow up with all of his rivals arriving out of form. Billy Bronco is capable of bouncing back so may emerge as the biggest threat, while Station Master at least had excuses when last seen in November.
16:22 Eden Collonges
EDEN COLLONGES showed his first real form over hurdles when opening his account at Kelso 10 days ago, off the bridle before the third-last but staying on well and didn’t let a less-than-fluent jump at the last scupper his chances. An improved performance was clearly expected as he was much tighter in the market than he had previously been and he could yet have more to offer now he is up and running.
Judged by how strong he was at the finish that day, he ought to relish this step up to three miles, and he looks well treated under a 7 lb penalty. Veteran Avithos arrives in rare form so looks the one to chase him home.
