14:10 Kasakh Noir

Brian Hughes’s mount KASAKH NOIR was a good second of 17 at Navan nine days ago and is taken to go one better. Frightened Rabbit bumped into a progressive winner at Newcastle last time and can give another good account, while Peltwell completed a hat-trick at Newcastle yesterday and would have to be respected if turning up here.

14:40 Casimir Du Clos

Most of these arrive with question marks against them. Orioninverness is one who commands respect given he’s a past winner of this event and Maasai Warrior’s breakthrough Chepstow victory puts him firmly in the picture too. But CASIMIR DU CLOS was recording his third success here in December and his good record when fresh sees him earn the vote.

15:10 Ahoy Senor

There is not much between the top four on the card but AHOY SENOR made a particularly good impression with his 2m4f Ayr win and potential for this longer trip. Kildimo could be the chief threat although, like him, Moonlight Beam could also improve over this longer distance and four-time chase winner Glittering Love has thoroughly proved his stamina already.

15:40 Bavington Bob

This looks a puzzle, despite the small field, but it may be solved by further improvement from BAVINGTON BOB who made his first appearance in a handicap a winning one at Carlisle three weeks ago. That was also his second run following a 371-day absence, so he should have more to offer. Sheriff Garrett is narrowly preferred to Hart Of Steel and Cash Again among the rest, although an eye should also be kept on handicap newcomer Very Patient.

16:10 Golan Cloud

Murvagh Beach rates a very solid option if building on his excellent Newcastle second on the back of a wind op and Farocco seems sure to have a say too now he returns to a longer trip off a reduced mark. But GOLAN CLOUD came good this time last season after a break when scoring at Kelso and he can repeat the trick here.

16:45 Real Armani (NAP)

Prince Dundee returns after an absence but he captured this prize in 2019 and another bold showing is on the cards given his good record when fresh. Square Viviani is another C&D winner who commands respect, but there was plenty to like about the breakthrough C&D success of REAL ARMANI (nap) and this plucky chaser is taken to defy a 3lb rise and follow up.

17:20 Dazzling Glory

This is a drop back in grade for DAZZLING GLORY, who was fifth in a Listed mares’ bumper at Sandown last time, and she can get off the mark under rules. Northern Falcon, Readysteadybeau and Release The Kraken have all shown some promise but Northern Irish challenger Bearhill could be the main danger with Brian Hughes booked for his debut.

17:50 Dynamite Kentucky

Two-time point winner DYNAMITE KENTUCKY was a promising second on his bumper debut at Kelso and is taken to go one better on this first run for Richard Newland. Salvino, another point winner, was third at Kelso on his sole rules start and could be the chief threat, although the newcomer Dear Alix is an interesting contender for Newmarket trainer John Berry.
