14:00 – Amtiyaz

The opening race on the seven-race card is a two-mile Conditions Stakes contest where dual course and distance winner Island Brave will be fancied to go well. However, I fancy Amtiyaz  for the father/son Gosden partnership whose horses are flying at the moment in the early-season skirmishes.

This colt was a winning favourite at Kempton when last seen in January, staying on very strongly and winning quite comfortably. The in-form jockey Hollie Doyle is in the saddle and I expect him to be bang there at the finish.

14:35 – Shimmering Dawn

The seven furlong mares’ championships Conditions Stakes 7F where just six runners are set to go to post. Indie Angel for the Gosden team sets the standard with a victory over the mile last time out but I will side with the previous course and distance winner, Shimmering Dawn, who won here last December. She will need to improve further but is reunited with James Doyle r and I expect another solid effort with these two teaming up again.

15:10 – Harry’s Bar

Irish challenger Harrys Bar will be towards the head of the market for Adrian McGuiness and Hollie Doyle. This gelding was a course and distance winner last February before moving to McGuiness and has since won twice and been place once in four runs for his new handler.

The pair could be very hard to beat.

15:45 – Mighty Gurkha

Mighty Gurkha really sets the standard over this 6f trip with two previous course and distance wins. This three-year-old is a well-travelled colt who has ran at both Deauville and most recently at Keenland when running on the Breeders Cup card last Autumn. Since that, has had two runs, finishing second and a posting a good victory last time out.

This colt is often ridden quite prominent in its races so I expect him to try and make all for Archie Watson’s yard, who are going well with a 25% strike rate over the last two weeks.
