12.30 – Lost In Montmartre

This doesn’t look a deep mares’ novices’ hurdle and French recruit LOST IN MONTMARTRE is fancied to make a winning start for Alastair Ralph. She had some fairly useful form in France, winning a four-year-old event at Clairefontaine in May last year. She was largely consistent and also raced over fences, so she has plenty of experience, and won’t have to improve to give weight away all round here.

13.00 – Master Work

MASTER WORK took advantage of a drop in the weights when resuming winning ways at Taunton in December, and he did quite well to get his head in front on that occasion, getting shuffled back in the middle of the race before making good headway at the second-last and quickening up nicely without his rider getting serious with him. He was well beaten in second at Doncaster earlier this month, but that race was won by one who returned to form and had the run of the race. Master Work shaped as though still in good form and he will remain of interest from this sort of mark.

New to Paddy Power?

13.30 – The Bees Knees

THE BEES KNEES proved progressive over hurdles earlier in the season, getting off the mark in a novice that worked out well at Newton Abbot in September and following up in grand style on handicap debut at Musselburgh. He then ran a brilliant race to hit the frame in a cracking novice handicap at Cheltenham and filled the same position in a useful event at Kempton when last seen in December. That is also strong form, but the key to his chances tomorrow could be the return to better ground, while this race isn’t as strong as the ones he has contested the last twice. Fergal O’Brien remains in top form and he is sure to be ready to roll on his first run for three months.

14.00 – Ballymoy

BALLYMOY was a smart hurdler back in 2018/19 and, while he is yet to reach those heights over fences, it is very hard to argue with his consistency, finishing runner-up four times before deservedly opening his account in this sphere at Catterick earlier this month. Admittedly, that wasn’t much of a race and he started the 12/1-on favourite, but it could have sparked some confidence into him, and he remains well handicapped in this sphere based on the pick of his hurdles form.

14.30 – Precious Eleanor

This could be the day when PRECIOUS ELEANOR finally gets her head in front. She certainly deserves to do so, having hit the crossbar on three of her last four starts, and the drying ground is no bad thing where this six-year-old is concerned. Apparent Nicky Henderson first-string, Barbados Blue, may offer the greatest resistance.

15.00 – Franco D’Aunou

Venetia Williams continues in blistering form and she should saddle another winner here in the shape of FRANCO D’AUNOU. He has progressed with each start over hurdles since transferring from France, and decisively opened his account in heavy ground at Ffos Las last month. He clearly relished conditions that day, so the switch to better ground is a slight concern, but he should be more than capable of defying a penalty in this field.

15.30 – Chef D’Equipe

The likeable CHEF D’EQUIPE should be ready to go despite a year on the sidelines and is marginally preferred to the classy San Benedeto, who has more than enough ability to overcome the selection but has something to prove following a disappointing season to date. Master Dancer is the pick of the remainder.
