17:10 – Precision Storm

The action at Wolverhampton on Tuesday gets underway with a handicap over the extended one-mile one-furlong trip. Khatm has been in great form for George Boughey and Mark Crehan following five victories from six starts since late February. The son of Dubawi has gone up four pounds for his recent victory at Southwell and steps up in trip, while his only previous run here was disappointing when finishing down the field in a novice race before Christmas.

Precision Storm has been consistent at this venue having won over course and distance in October and January, while also finishing second a further three times since early December. Richard Kingscote knows the horse extremely well and another hold up ride should be expected. Elsewhere, Oslo moves away from racing at Lingfield for the first time since December, while Nonios can’t be discounted for Jamie Spencer and David Simcock.

18:10 – Mutabaahy

There are plenty of pacesetters in this five furlong handicap which should set up the finish for both Shamshon and Mutabaahy, with Anthony Brittain’s runner getting the verdict. Shamson has been knocking on the door for Stuart Williams and Marco Ghiani in recent starts but is rated six pounds higher than his latest all-weather victory at Lingfield in January. Mutabaahy will love the strong pace and returns quickly having finished third in better company at this venue on Saturday under Cam Hardie.

The drop in class looks a key positive for the six-year-old to return to winning ways following a course and distance victory off a rating of 78 back here in early December.

19:10 – Golden Flame

Just three declared runners for this 1m 4f novice race which could be tactical and very intriguing to watch on Tuesday evening. Bandinelli represents Charlie Appleby and James Doyle and must give away seven pounds to his two rivals following a course and distance success in the snow here in early January. His stamina came to the fore with Adam Kirby as strong as ever to secure victory having been pushed along and racing off the bridle three furlongs from home.

The son of Dubawi might find it hard to give away the penalty with Golden Flame looking the more interesting runner in the field for Mark Johnston. The son of Golden Horn will surely appreciate the extra distance this evening and previously raced fourth to Battleground at Royal Ascot last summer. A typical front-running performance could be on the cards to score under Ben Curtis with Marshall Plan the main danger for John and Thady Gosden having recently finished third on debut at Lingfield.

Pinatubo James Doyle Goodwood July 2020

20:10 – Abnaa

The Wolverhampton card comes to a close with an open looking handicap where Abnaa should go close for Antony Brittain and Cam Hardie. The four-year-old has been handed a rating of 65 on his handicap debut having ran reasonably well in his four career starts.

His comeback run over course and distance after a long break earlier this month caught the eye when staying on for fifth place. Courtside with James Doyle booked, and Bankawi for Mick Easterby have good recent form around here, but Abnaa looks poised to strike and any market support would be a positive.

Wolverhampton tips summary:

17:10 – Precision Storm
18:10 – Mutabaahy
19:10 – Golden Flame
20:10 – Abnaa
