An uncompetitive race and AGENT SHIFTWELL, who ran well behind an improver at Southwell last month, could be the answer. Camachess is likely to fare better today and is respected, along with Wiley Post and Shamshon.
17:25 – The Hulk
Elusive Treat continues on the upgrade and is greatly respected, while Twilight Heir showed a willing attitude at Lingfield on his AW debut. THE HULK could well have further improvement in him though and he can defy a penalty for his latest Wolverhampton win.

17:55 – Excellent George
Despite being unexposed, it’s not certain quite what Show Me A Sunset achieved when winning a novice here last time and likely more will be needed back in a handicap. It may be worth giving another chance to EXCELLENT GEORGE despite a losing run of 22. A triple C&D winner, the race may not have panned out ideally for him here last time and he is undoubtedly favourably handicapped.
18:25 – United Front
This may become tactical, but that may not be a problem for UNITED FRONT (nap) who looks equally effective over 1m/1m2f while it seems likely there is more to come from him for his new stable following last month’s Newcastle success. Songkran has done well since joining George Boughey and may be the one to chase him home.

18:55 – Famous Dynasty
Several of these have met each other in recent months. Headley George comes into this having finished runner-up in his last three starts and the form of his latest second over C&D has been well advertised by the winner since. However, stall 11 isn’t ideal, even over this trip, so on this occasion preference is for FAMOUS DYNASTY who knows how to win and ran well to finish runner-up in a similar contest at Lingfield last time. Noble Queen looks best of the others despite also being drawn wider than ideal.
19:25 – Spirituoso
Few of these look solid. Eyes is more exposed than most, but she is consistent and seems likely to run her race. Puffin Island also knows how to win and is respected despite her high draw, but it may be worth taking a chance with SPIRITUOSO on handicap debut. There has been promise in her last two efforts and she shapes at though this return to 1m is what she needs.
19:55 – Special Directory
Both Baileys Warrior and Bellissime have shown enough to win an ordinary novice, whilst Qurtajana is entitled to build on her encouraging debut. However, there are a couple of interesting newcomers up against them such as Queen Of Zabeel, but it may be worth siding with SPECIAL DIRECTORY whose stable has done really well with its 3yo newcomers already this month. Market support for her would be especially interesting.
20:25 – Mizen Master
Despite not yet having won over this far and carrying an 8lb penalty, it’s hard to believe that Iconic Belle won’t give it her best shot in her bid for a quick hat-trick. However, it may be worth taking a chance with MIZEN MASTER who remains off the same mark as when successful over a similar trip at Wolverhampton last September. This less-taxing surface may suit him better than the Fibresand he has raced on the last twice.
