14:10 – Vulcan
A useful dual winner on the Flat, Vulcan was strong in the betting ahead of his hurdles debut at Ascot last month, having been sold to Dr Richard Newland for 170,000 guineas, and although he couldn’t justify the support, he did shape really well, perhaps just in need of the run after a three-month absence. He finished third on that occasion, and with that form having received multiple boosts since, he gets the vote to open his account in this sphere.

14:40 – Shutupshirley
Shutupshirley has improved by the run in his three outings in juvenile company thus far, shaping well on each occasion, and he appeals as the type to do better now sent handicapping. He has shown definite signs of ability, and in receipt of a hefty weight-for-age allowance from his elders, a bold showing looks to be on the cards in a thin-looking handicap.
15:10 – Copperless
Third on his sole start in bumpers, Copperless has made an encouraging start to life over hurdles, shaping better than the result when second at Perth on his hurdles debut in September, before going one better to open his account at Market Rasen the following month, still rough around the edges but just doing enough to see off one who’d committed first. He is well bred and will go on improving, so he looks the one to side with provided he is ready to roll following a break.
15:40 – Beau Du Brizais
A useful chaser, Beau Du Brizais was denied only by Kingswell Theatre in a cross-country event at Cheltenham in November, taking to the track really well and looking likely to become a regular at the Cotswold course after that effort. He failed to match that form when fifth under the same conditions last time, but he has been given a break on the back of that run and is the clear one to beat if returning to the form he showed on his penultimate start.

16:10 – Queen Of The Court
A winning Irish pointer, Queen Of The Court has taken steps forward on her last two outings, including when finishing well for second at Huntingdon last month, shaping well and showing more than enough to think she’ll win a handicap soon. A 4 lb rise for that performance looks fair and Grant Cann’s charge gets the nod to go one better.
16:40 – Flight To Nowhere
A winning hurdler over two miles, Flight To Nowhere has made an encouraging start over fences, particularly when faced with the minimum trip, finishing in the first three on all three of her chase outings over two miles, including when third at Ludlow last time. She has been eased 2 lb for that effort and holds good claims on the pick of her form.
17:10 – Wind From The West
Chosen Port sets the form standard in this field and certainly holds good claims now having her sights lowered, but Warren Greatrex’s newcomer Wind From The West makes plenty of appeal and could be worth siding with to make a successful debut. Wind From The West is certainly well bred – out of a bumper winner and closely related to the top-class chaser Long Run – and it would be no surprise to see a big run from her. Any significant market support for her would be extremely interesting.
