17:45 – Bedford Blaze (NAP)

Bedford Blaze offered little encouragement as a two-year-old, beating only one rival home in two starts over seven furlongs, albeit against some promising types at Newmarket. He was presented with a lesser test of stamina and a lesser calibre of opponent at Wolverhampton on his return last month and duly showed a lot more promise, making late headway to finish fourth under his inexperienced jockey and leaving the impression that he could have been closer had things developed differently.

Marco Ghiani takes over in the saddle, which is a positive move, and Bedford Blaze looks to have been handed a lenient opening mark on his handicap debut. He should prove difficult to beat if improving as expected.

18:45 – Sky Bright (NB)

Sky Bright has a good pedigree, being a daughter of a Grade 1 winner who has produced several winners, including some useful types. She didn’t show a great deal in novice and maiden company but posted a more encouraging effort on her handicap debut at Kempton last time. Sky Bright moved upsides the eventual winner two furlongs out and stuck to her task well but had to settle for a close-up second.

She did pull a couple of lengths clear of the third, however, and she is a scopey sort who should carry on improving for a while yet. The step up in trip by a furlong and a half is also likely to suit based on pedigree and run style, so she should launch a bold bid.

16:10 – Terri Rules (E/W)

Terri Rules is on a long losing run that stretches back to November 2019 and comprises 14 starts but she posted an encouraging effort on her return from a five-month break at Kempton last week. Terri Rules caught the eye travelling better than most in that six-furlong classified stakes and was produced to lead entering the final furlong, but she was overhauled inside the last 100 yards.

She did pull nearly three lengths clear of the third, however, and is entitled to go close if posting a performance of equal merit in this similar event.
