Well, this is it. The last race of the 2021 Cheltenham Festival – and the final renewal to be scrutinised by Ruby Walsh and Frank Hickey on our special ‘Countdown to Cheltenham’ podcast series.

The Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle offers one last chance to bag a winner – and Paddy Power are offering non-runner money back on all 28 races at this year’s meeting.

With a host of potential runners still in the mix, Ruby and Frank took a deep dive to offer up a couple of value tips.

You can listen to the full episode BELOW.

RUBY WALSH

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS was second to Sea Ducor on his first run at Gowran Park and pulled up at Christmas behind Grand Roi when he was favourite but never rose a gallop.

I thought he ran well at Leopardstown behind Appreciate It last month. He was close enough to the pace all the way, turned in with a chance and faded from the last when Hook Up, Irascible and Blue Lord ran past him Going up in trip will really suit him. He’s an each-way play for me.

FRANK HICKEY

WIDE RECEIVER has been well touted but his more recent run at Leopardstown was lifeless. I wouldn’t want to be backing him.

BARNAVIDDAUN has gone from Thomas Mullins to David Bridgwater. He beat Damalisque at Naas in November and that’s a race that’s worked out well. He’s a bit interesting.

FRONT VIEW for Jospeh O’Brien disappointed in last year’s renewal finishing 12th but he’s won over fences this season. He’s off a mark of 137 – 2lb lower than last year – and is a big price. He’s very interesting and is still only six years old.
