14:10 Ring The Moon (NAP)

The Evan Williams-trained 8yo RING THE MOON (nap) is in prime form and appears to have a good chance to complete a quick hat-trick. He is effectively 9lb higher than at Taunton a week ago but he did it quite comfortably there and his earlier win was gained at this track. The combination of drying ground and a drop back in trip may not be ideal for Don Herbager but he is feared most, ahead of Catlin.

14:40 Jack Valentine

Drying ground would benefit all of Court Royale, Doukarov, Getabuck and the very well-handicapped Tidal Watch but it might pay to give another chance to JACK VALENTINE, who was a below-par favourite at Catterick last month but created a good impression when scoring over C&D on his chasing debut in January. Dual hurdle winner Present From Dubai ought to have a future over fences and is feared most.

15:10 Brianstorm

The Venetia Williams-trained BRIANSTORM has a point to prove after a duff effort last time but the form of his second in higher-grade company at Exeter two starts ago reads well and he gets the nod. Destin D’Ajonc won in pretty good style off a much-reduced mark at Chepstow last month but it’s not easy to predict whether he’ll build on that performance, and he probably doesn’t want the ground to start drying out here. Scorpion Haze has struggled on heavy ground this winter but makes his chasing debut from a handy mark and may end up as the main danger to the selection.

15:40 Boro Babe

Episode seemed to be getting her act together over fences at Fakenham in December and is respected but slight preference is for BORO BABE, who posted a sound effort when second on her chasing debut at Ffos Las and remains unexposed. Last-time-out winner Arqalina should also go well. Miss Zip has slipped to a handy mark, while it will be no surprise if Roseisaroseisarose bounces back from her disappointing chase debut.

16:10 Captain McGinley

I’m Wiser Now might just have had his stamina stretched when third over 2m6f here on his recent hunter chase debut and is respected now dropped back in trip. However, he hasn’t always looked straightforward and preference is for CAPTAIN McGINLEY, who was prominent for a long way in a good-quality contest on heavy ground at Wincanton last month and ought to be better suited by the less testing conditions here. Fumet D’Oudairies was making very good progress in points when last seen in early 2020, while The Triple Pillar can also feature if he copes with today’s ground.

16:40 Cat Tiger

It’s probable that the best days are behind Killaro Boy, Straidnahanna, Tango De Juilley and Henri Parry Morgan. Therefore, this is surely best left to the youngster CAT TIGER who was a useful novice hurdler last season for Paul Nicholls and David Maxwell. This race offers a suitable winning opportunity and stepping stone towards the future.
