17:30 Culture (NAP)

Culture is yet to finish outside the top three when racing on artificial surfaces, showing a useful level of form on the all-weather last year, winning at Kempton in December to take his tally to three wins from six races away from turf.

He ran well to finish third at the same venue last time, particularly under the circumstances, making headway when forced to switch two furlongs out, and he must hold solid claims if taking to this surface on his first outing for Jedd O’Keeffe’s yard.

16:30 Al Kout (Next Best)

Fit from a spin over hurdles, Al Kout proved at least as good as ever back on the level at Kempton in November, seen to maximum effect and putting up a good fight against a useful rival, edged out in the last half-furlong but staying on to pull well clear of the remainder.

The winner that day has gone in again since, given plenty of credence to the form, and though Al Kout has a 111-day absence to overcome, he has won following a break in the past, and he looks capable of defying a 4 lb rise in the weights.

16:00 Carnwennan (Each-way)

A card full of small-field contests makes each-way betting tricky, but there is every chance that Charlie Fellowes’s Carnwennan has been slightly overlooked by the market in the opening race, so he looks worth taking a chance on to get a place at minimum.

A course-and-distance winner in 2019, Carnwennan attracted support ahead of his latest outing at Wolverhampton in January, but the slightly muddling nature of the race seemed to play against him, off the bridle before most and losing his place over three furlongs out, so he is probably best judged on his previous form. He had shaped well in a conditions stakes over this course and distance at the end of last year, and a repeat of that effort should put him firmly in the mix here.

Timeform’s tips summary:

16:00 – Carnwennan (Each-Way)
16:30 – Al Kout (Next Best)
17:30 – Culture (NAP)
