14:05 Moss Gill (NAP)

MOSS GILL had an excellent three-year-old campaign, progressing through the handicap ranks. He took his form to a new level last year, winning a Listed race at York before finishing third in the Nunthorpe Stakes at the same venue in August. He finished fourth in a Listed race at Nottingham when last seen in October, but he shaped better than the distance beaten suggests on that occasion, always on the back foot after a sluggish start.

He will have been off the track for 136 days come the off at Lingfield, but he won after a similar absence last year and he clearly has the best form in the race. This is his first outing for Edward Bethell’s yard, and he will prove difficult to beat if at his best.

14:40 Father Of Jazz (Next Best)

FATHER OF JAZZ has been improving at an impressive rate this winter, following up his Wolverhampton win with a facile success at Chelmsford in January. He duly confirmed himself one of the most progressive horses of the winter when bringing up the hat-trick over this course and distance at the beginning of the month, taking his rivals apart on his handicap debut.

Further progression will be needed for him to have a say in this year’s Winter Derby, but that is not ruled out and is in fact highly likely. He must be taken very seriously now stepped up in class.

11:45 Enough Already (Each-Way)

The race boasting the biggest field on the card looks the best place to go in search of a good each-way bet and the one that stands out most in this contest is the Lee Carter-trained ENOUGH ALREADY.

Enough Already has stood relatively little racing for a five-year-old, making it to the track just eight times so far. His career has been stop-start, but he took a step back in the right direction from a falling mark when finishing fourth at Kempton earlier this month. The step up to a mile seemingly showing him to better effect in what was a fairly useful handicap.

With that in mind then, this further step up in trip could eke out a little more improvement in Enough Already and Carter’s charge may be able to gain a belated first career success, in what is undoubtedly a wide-open handicap.

14:40 Father Of Jazz (Next Best)
