This is a particularly weak renewal of the UAE Oaks due to Soft Whisper chasing the bigger pot in the Saudi Derby this Saturday. I think the value her is in Jumeriah Beach who has been improving each time she steps up in trip and based on his excellent winning rides at Meydan on Saturday jockey Mickael Barzalona has adapted his style from Gung Ho the start and skip to victory on the “golden rail” as was the case for the last 3 years.
16:50 Velorum
Velorum was one of the most interesting gamble I have seen this year at Meydan against largely the same field, punted from 7/1 in to 9/4 he ran no race but looked to have run free and Final Song also running free may have gee’d him up early in the race and was left with nothing in the tank when it came time to push the button, but I think with race fitness he can put in a big showing.

17:25 Summer Romance
I think this is one of the more interesting races and the jockey bookings add to the intrigue. William Buick gets off Summer Romance to ride Alithiqa. Alithiqa beat most of this field 3 weeks ago with James Doyle when Buick chose Summer Romance. But still on overall form Summer Romance looks the better filly of the pair and seems to just have got tired at the closing stages and should improve for the run.
18:00 Gladiator King
I had Gladiator King down as my horse to follow for the 2021 Carnival but he absolutely looked to have needed the run 4 weeks ago but I have small concerns now about how the track is riding this year vs last year with last years pace bias really suiting him but with the advantage of having had a race I think he will win this but wont be one to be looking at betting on the distances.
