14.15 Thurles – Shopping Around
This is a competitive handicap chase and Shopping Around makes most appeal. She racked up two wins over hurdles around this time last year before starting off this season over fences. The handicapper gave her a mark of 102 and she went close to winning off it last time at Naas, but ultimately finished second. Although she has a 4lbs higher mark to contend with now, she already looks like one that could be a much better chaser than hurdler.

15:50 Thurles – Dunboyne
The drop back in trip last time looked to be against Dunboyne as he could never quite get on terms with Capodanno who runs in the 15.20 on this card, so take note. He had previously won a point-to-point and showed plenty in his debut ‘Rules’ run behind leading Cheltenham fancy Bob Olinger to suggest he’d be up to winning a maiden hurdle. The step up to near three miles shouldn’t inconvenience him and he should be thereabouts at the finish.
16.25 Thurles – Memory Of Youth
Memory Of Youth has been runner up on her last two starts and Thursday could well be the day she breaks her maiden tag at the 11th time of asking. The handicapper has put her up 2lbs for her latest effort at Fairyhouse when she was run down late by Hilltop Supreme, but this looks a slightly weaker contest.;
She’ll take some beating in this.
