1.10pm – Lady Breffni
Willie Mullins has lots of runners with chances, but I like LADY BREFFNI who has run well in a big handicap before and that helps in these contests.
1.40pm – Saint Sam (Each-Way)
Quilixios could be very good but hasn’t run for a while. That’s the worrying thing about backing him at a short price is his lack of a recent run, which last came at the end of October. He did look good in both of his wins and the ground won’t be a problem. SAINT SAM had no luck last time and at a price can be the value alternative.
2.10pm – Appreciate It
It is very hard to look past APPRECIATE IT in the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle. He should make it three from three over hurdles. A win would be ideal in the build up to the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham.
2.40pm – Julies Stowaway (Each-Way)
JULIES STOWAWAY made a bad mistake at the last at Fairyhouse which stopped her in her tracks. She is not badly handicapped and is a good each-way play in what looks a a trappy race.
3.10pm – Monkfish
I am a huge fan of MONKFISH and can’t see past him in the Grade 1 Novice Chase. Another win would be the perfect warm up for Cheltenham.

3.40pm – Minella Indo
MINELLA INDO is the most likely winner of the Paddy Power Gold Cup. This is a fascinating race though and MELON and KEMBOY re-oppose from their buckle in the Savills Chase at Christmas when both were just denied by A Plus Tard. Melon is to be ridden conservatively this time which could see him upset the lot of them and he has a great record in big races. Unfortunately for him, he tends not to get his head in front in them. Maybe a change of tactics will change that.
4.10pm – Treacysenniscorthy
TREACYSENNISCORTHY won a big hurdle race at this Festival last year and enjoyed a career-best win last time in an eight-runner handicap at Cork on heavy ground. He could still be on the up.
4.40pm – Brooklynn Glory (each-way)
BROOKLYNN GLORY looks a big each-way price to me having won both her starts on bad ground. She’s unbeaten in two and will be looking for the hat-trick as one of five runners from the Willie Mullins’ yard in a very valuable mares bumper.
