5.00pm – Princess Animale (NB)
This doesn’t look a strong race and PRINCESS ANIMALE is taken to deservedly get her head in front. She is less exposed than the majority of rivals she will meet at this level and she ran by far her best race so far when finishing runner-up at Lingfield last time in first-time eyeshields. She belatedly built on earlier promise that day, making good headway on the inner but unable to reel in the well-backed winner.
That form sets a very good standard in this field, and provided the headgear continues to have the desired effect, she should be very competitive.
5.30pm – Edraak (Each-Way)
EDRAAK showed much improved form to open his account on his first start for Mick Appleby at Newcastle in June and, though he hasn’t got his head in front since, he has run some solid races in defeat.
All of his best form came on the all-weather, and he wasn’t beaten far in a competitive handicap at Lingfield when last seen in August. That form looks solid, and he is very interesting on the back on another break given how well he ran when fresh last year, while the booking of Tom Marquand also catches the eye.

8.00pm – Verne Castle (NAP)
Plenty in with chances here, but VERNE CASTLE‘s record of six course and distance wins speaks for itself, and given he has been holding his form well this winter he looks the one to side with. His last win came in this race 12 months ago, and he has left the impression he is building up to something on his last three starts.
Verne Castle again gave it his best shot when trying to make all at Lingfield last time, kicking clear in the straight only to be worn down late on as is so often the case at that course. He doesn’t have to lead, though, and is arguably better taking a lead, so the presence of Leodis Dream and Recon Mission, both of whom like the race prominently, could help Verne Castle’s cause.
