Newcastle 13.50 – Proschema
Snookered won a bumper on the all-weather at Newcastle last week and Malystic has been in decent form over fences this season, but they may have their hands full taking on Proschema.
He’s rated below Malystic over jumps but he was a really decent handicapper on the Flat and on his only visit to the all-weather at Newcastle, he was third in the Northumberland Plate off a mark of 103.
A repeat of that sort of form would be him extremely difficult to beat and he might be one to keep in mind for a decent handicap hurdle back on decent ground in the spring.
Newbury 15.05 – Panic Attack
Panic Attack clearly isn’t a fan of Cheltenham, as her only disappointing runs so far in her career have been the two times she has ran there. The Champion bumper last season was the first disappointment and she again underperformed when making her handicap debut over hurdles in November off a mark of 119. She was dropped 6lb for the Cheltenham effort but no mistake at Newbury, bolting up by over five lengths and getting hit with an 11lb rise as a result.
A mark of 124 remains workable for her and soft ground at Newbury clearly suits her. She can take the rise in her stride for the David Pipe yard that remain in decent form.

Chepstow 15.50 – Annie Day
Kapga De Lily goes in search of a four-timer and could be difficult to beat but she is now gone up another 6lbs and finds herself a total of 24lbs higher than when this winning run began. That may just leave her slightly vulnerable to an unexposed runner and Annie Day could well be the one to take her on with. Annie Day had some fair form in point to points on testing ground, finishing third to subsequent Listed hurdle scorer Nada To Prada and then won a point beating a useful mare in New Money.
Annie Day had four quick runs over hurdles in the space of just two months to achieve a handicap mark and went straight to chasing for her handicap debut. Running over two miles, she caught the eye staying on into 3rd that day and looks certain to appreciate stepping up to three miles now. I would be shocked if a mark of 94 didn’t underestimate her ability and the step up to three miles on testing ground should see her achieve a career best under Rules.
