There’s tasty meeting on the all-weather at Kempton on Saturday evening and we’ve asked to PPTV tipsters James Shortt and Justin Kenny – men with a vast array of racing knowledge – to pick out a fabulous foursome of plays for our punters.

16:15 Petalite (James Shortt)

We kick-off a busy card at Kempton with this opening 7-furlong novice race for fillies, with Global Acclaim the sole winner in the field for Clive Cox and Adam Kirby. The daughter of Acclamation steps up in trip and gives weight away to all her rivals following a nice debut victory here over 6 furlongs in early December.

Elsewhere, Elvic for Roger Charlton, Roger Teal’s Gurkha Girl and my selection, PETALITE for Ed Walker are all lively contenders. Petalite was extremely green on debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month, but finished a gallant third in a bunch finish.

The Highclere-owned runner made good headway from out the back and wasn’t knocked about by Richard Kingscote in the closing furlong. There’s no doubt she learned plenty and natural improvement should bring her forward on her second start with Tom Marquand booked.

16:45 Front Of Line (Justin Kenny)

The second race at Kempton is an interesting 7-furlong novice for fillies, with FRONT OF LINE carrying top-weight for trainer Chris Wall. The daughter of Cable Bay gives away weight to her younger rivals, but has a nice piece of form having finished second to Seas Of Elzaam at Chelmsford back in September – that horse won again afterwards at Newcastle for David O’Meara.

Despite a disappointing run here in October, my selection returned after a 59-day break to finish a good second at Wolverhampton last month and should go very close to victory today. It’s encouraging to see up and coming star, Benoit De La Sayette take off 7lbs and that positive, coupled with improved fitness, should see Front of Line live up to her name in this race.

17:15 First Order (Justin Kenny)

We stay in novice company for our next race at Kempton but step-up in trip to 1m 4f with Godolphin running three of the eight runners. Those with experience don’t look major superstars going forward and won’t set the world alight looking back on previous form. John Gosden, who won this race last year with To Nathaniel runs a total of three horses, with two owned by the boys in blue.

FIRST ORDER, a well-bred Dubawi colt for Charlie Appleby, stands out on breeding and is a half-brother to Military March, out of Yorkshire Oaks winner Punctilious. That pedigree and the trainer’s strike rate of six winners from his last 10 runners since December makes me believe that First Order could take some stopping in this contest under Adam Kirby.

19:50 Only The Brave (James Shortt)

The engaged pair of Holly Doyle and Tom Marquand do battle again in this opening division of the 7-furlong handicap, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if both are involved in the finish. Marquand should be forward if not leading on Baltic Prince for Tony Carroll, who returns after a disappointing run at Wolverhampton last month.

The consistent Cape Greco is another contender for John Long following his victory at Lingfield in December and his third place finish at the same venue two-weeks ago. However, ONLY THE BRAVE gets the verdict for Holly Doyle on a second start for trainer Archie Watson.

The five-year-old mare went off favourite for a Leicester handicap in October, but disappointed on heavy ground to finish only fourth on her UK debut. She was once rated 74 in Ireland and managed her sole victory in an Irish claimer for Sarah Lynam at Fairyhouse in 2018. She’s now rated 57 and gets plenty of weight from rivals to go very close to victory in this 0 to 70 affair.

Kempton tips summary:

16:15 Petalite
16:45 Front Of Line
17:15 First Order
19:50 Only The Brave
