Paddy Power has done his best to tip up some wonderful winners for punters ahead of action at Warwick this weekend.
The main man was speaking to Tom Nugent and Frank Hickey on the latest episode of our From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, picking out a quartet of quality selections to spice up your Saturday.
1.50pm – Next Destination
I started by looking at FiddlerontheRoof, who is either massively overrated or massively underperforming this season. The yard is also out of form so he is the first one that I have said won’t win. He’ll probably p*** up now! That thinking means that NEXT DESTINATION is a certainty, but when you look at Golan Fortune it’s definitely got a squeak. I would make it between Next Destination and Golan Fortune because I am very flippantly ruling out FiddlerontheRoof.
Next Destination is the more likely of the two winners but I wouldn’t be surprised if Golan Fortune gets a freebie up front and gets away from them.
2.25pm – Jay Bee Why
This will be a really interesting race as we will see different form lines coming together. There are a load of horses that have been impressive and it’s hard to know how strong their form is.
I’m going for a speculative each-way bet on JAY BEE WHY at 15/2 for Alan King. I know it was only a maiden hurdle the last day but over course and distance he was visually impressive and responded really quickly when asked – maybe even quicker than the jockey expected because it went to the front by two out and was trying to get into the race at that stage. This one might be a bit better than expected and there could be more to come because that was his first run this season.

3.00pm – Storm Control
I feel like I’ve backed Le Breuil every time he’s run, expect when he won the four-miler at Cheltenham. He was the first one I looked at but I’ve moved away because he owes me too much money! The one I’ve gone for, who I find a little bit intriguing, is STORM CONTROL.
The step up to 3m has been the making of him. He’s run 17 times, and including his point-to-point he’s only run three times over 3m or more – and he’s won each of them. The 3m5f is a stretch with the ground but Storm Control just keeps improving the further he goes. At 5/1, I’m willing to stay with him every time he runs 3m or more.
3.35pm – Mr Harp
You have to finish in the first six here to qualify for the Pertemps, as it will obviously be oversubscribed so you need to be up at a certain rating. I tend to avoid the bigger yards here because they might have other targets in mind, so the smaller yards are where I am interested.
I’ve gone for one at the bottom – MR HARP – for Thomas Gallagher and Jack Quinlan. He’s 10/1 as an each-way bet and looked like he loved the heavy ground when he won the last day at Uttoxeter. He won pretty handily that day coming from the back so I just think he will creep into the race, he should be in the places and he might just get up to win.
