4.10pm – Time To Reason (NAP)

Arcavallo will doubtless have his supporters again and he’s more than capable of going well at this level. Mansfield, Red Allure and Thegreyvtrain also come into the reckoning but everything looks in place for a big run from TIME TO REASON (nap) and he’s expected to leave his two Southwell runs well behind him now faced with a more suitable surface.

4.45pm – Queens Road

Passional got off the mark in a very weak race yesterday but she’s still a contender under her penalty. Trouser The Cash and Dubai Paradise can also have their case argued. QUEENS ROAD finished behind a couple of these rivals here last time but it was a promising effort after an absence and she could take a big step forward this time.

5.15pm – Beauty Stone

The most solid option here is BEAUTY STONE who had the field quite well strung out when scoring over C&D last time so a 6lb rise doesn’t look too severe. The unexposed Mister Blue would rate a threat if the market speaks in his favour now handicapping after a break, while Keane’s Kingdom didn’t see out 2m when favourite for his recent handicap debut and retains potential back over shorter.

5.45pm – To The Bar

Although Southwell can exaggerate winning margins TO THE BAR appeared to produce a pretty useful performance when readily seeing off a debut scorer there last week so should be more than capable of defying a penalty in a race like this. Newcastle debut third Open Mystery could be the one to give him most to do unless the betting suggests much better is expected from the William Haggas-trained Beija Flor on her second start.

6.15pm – Highly Dancer

This looks competitive for the level. A promising debut second in June suggests HIGHLY DANCER could be well treated from an opening mark in the mid-60s and her absence since finishing a beaten favourite at Ayr in July suggests something can’t have been right on that occasion. She gets the nod but there’s plenty of possible dangers, headed by fellow handicap newcomers Thapa Vc and Uproar. Global Vision didn’t get the chance to show what he could do on his C&D nursery debut and remains open to improvement, while the handily drawn Hafez has already shown he can be very competitive off his mark and the drop to 7f may help.

6.45pm – Lampang

A competitive race which should be run at a good pace with several of these happiest at the sharp end. Venturous can reverse recent C&D placings with Lord Riddiford, while Exalted Angel and Spoof also need taking seriously. The relatively unknown quantity is LAMPANG though and he can confirm the improvement he showed when second in Listed company last month.

7.15pm – Alphonse Karr

All three newcomers make appeal on paper and the betting should be revealing. The Quiet Rebel and Elusive Treat are capable of better but they’ve landed wide draws and perhaps ALPHONSE KARR will be the answer. He gave a red-hot favourite a race at Chelmsford on his debut and there should be more to come.

7.45pm – Autumn War

A small field but all six runners are coming here in form. Battle Of Marathon is better than he showed at Lingfield last time but AUTUMN WAR, unexposed as a stayer, looked to have a bit in hand over C&D 17 days ago and can make light of a 5lb rise in the weights.

8.15pm – Alchimista

Epaneema made a good fist of her return to the AW when going close over 1m4f here but more certain stamina credentials look to be held by ALCHIMISTA, who stuck on well in a stronger 1m6f race on return from a break and hopefully there will be more to come from this well-bred filly back at this trip. In an open race Aria Rose is also considered, ahead of Truly Together.
