Back up in trip, Lady Rocco showed improved form on her handicap debut at Sligo in October, admittedly owing her second-placed finish to the departure of Lunastar, but still pulling nicely clear of the remainder. Apprentice jockey Kevin Brogan takes a handy 3 lb off her back here, and this Irish-raider needs to be taken seriously.
Prince Escalus made a successful debut over hurdles at Huntingdon in October, reversing the form with one who had beaten him in a bumper last season, and although he failed to justify odds-on at Stratford last month, it’s still early days with him, and he could be worth another chance now back over two miles.
Galileo Silver has made good progress over hurdles this term, opening his account at Sedgefield in August, before improving in defeat when runner-up at Newton Abbot and Chepstow. He is the only horse making his chasing debut in this field, but he holds solid claims should his jumping pass the test.
A fairly useful performer on the Flat, Breguet Boy came in for strong support ahead of his hurdling debut over this course and distance last month, and he duly repaid his backers, showing signs of inexperience but getting the job done after being driven out on the run-in. He is open to improvement in this sphere and appeals as the one they all have to beat.
Weather Front shaped better than the bare result when fifth in a listed event at Cheltenham last month, not only trying to come from the back of the field but, after making up ground, getting stuck behind the weakening leader against the outside rail. He looks well worth another try at this trip and can take advantage of this return to calmer waters.
Henry’s Joy shaped as if back in form when second over this course and distance two weeks ago, coming from a way back to get closest to the leader, who was much better placed. It remains to be seen whether or not he can replicate that sort of form, but he still appeals as a big player from 1 lb lower.
Sin A Bhfuil remains a maiden after three bumper outings, but he has not looked devoid of ability in either of his runs, and he should have enough about him to land a race of this standard. His two placed finishes at Punchestown set the standard in this contest and he ought to prove difficult to beat.
