12:30 Whatsdastory (NAP)

Rose Of Aghaboe drew nicely clear to make a winning chase debut at Leicester last month and is evidently in prime form but she’s up in grade today and opposed with course hurdle winner WHATSDASTORY (nap). Richard Newland’s mare ended last season with a good effort in February and makes her chasing debut with plenty of Irish pointing experience under her belt.

13:00 Getariver

Glajou made a good start to his chasing career in a higher-grade race at Chepstow last month but GETARIVER comes here after two good hurdle runs and gets the nod in the hope he can dominate from the front. Point winner Shanacoole Prince didn’t hang about for long over hurdles and also looks very interesting. Shady Oaks, who was second here a week ago, is well handicapped if the visor continues to have a positive effect but has become very inconsistent and is now 0-14 over fences.

13:30 Ripper Roo

Highland Parc and Early Morning Dew have both shown significant ability under rules but the most interesting runner is RIPPER ROO, who was far too strong for a rival who is now a very useful novice hurdler in Ireland when winning on his point debut in January, and who has joined a stable with an excellent bumper record.

14:00 Pencreek

Lucky One has taken a very keen hold on both his British starts but last month’s 2m4f Uttoxeter second was a good effort and he may benefit from today’s drop in trip. PENCREEK, however, shaped with significant promise when third on last month’s hurdle debut at Newbury and he gets the vote.

14:32 Peachey

Some staying regulars are joined by youngsters who promise to improve for the switch to handicaps, not least PEACHEY, who ran encouragingly on his first completion since a long absence at Uttoxeter and should be suited by the likely better ground here now he goes up in trip. Ex-Irish pointer Poppa Poutine has his most realistic chance to date while Brummie Boys looks ready for a staying test. Laugharne can also be involved, with Ridgeway Flyer of definite interest on his second run back from his time away.

15:02 Fantastikas

Barbabos Buck’s sets the standard, and he should confirm recent course placings with Mr Harp, but there are others to worry about. Bobby Bow won well at Hexham and FANTASTIKAS appeals as a winner waiting to happen, judged on the strength of his bumper form and his pleasing second on hurdling debut at Stratford. That track would have been sharp enough for him and this longer trip looks the right move.

15:32 Deputy Jones

Easkey Lad was placed on his last two appearances and has considerably less to prove than several of these but today’s ground might be softer than he prefers and perhaps the answer might be DEPUTY JONES, who had a wind op after a disappointing run in August and is very well handicapped if judged on a piece of placed form from a year ago. Cases can also be made for Caro Des Flos and Cold Shoulder.
