Horse Racing Tips: Your 3 best bets at Wolverhampton on Tuesday

Star Ascending horse wolverhampton

17:30 Wolverhampton Chitra (nap)

Chitra hasn’t won for almost a year now, but she has slipped down the weights as a result, and can now race from what is an appealing looking mark – 5lb lower than her last winning mark, in fact.
She has been running consistently well in defeat this season too, and her strike rate is in fact a good one for a sprinter.

She is drawn in stall one, which should suit her prominent racing style, as should the fact that front-runners are generally favoured in races over this course and distance. She is a consistent performer and her turn surely can’t be far away on these terms.

16:00 Wolverhampton – Turanga Leela (next best)

Turanga Leela has a good record at this track, and, back under a fully-fledger rider here last time, she turned in her best effort of the season to claim a fourth victory over this course and distance, capitalising on a falling mark returned to the all-weather. Pushed along from halfway, Turanga Leela made progress entering the straight and, after making her way to the head of proceedings inside the final furlong, won with a bit in hand. She completed a course-and-distance double here two years ago and looks poised to replicate that feat.

16:30 Wolverhampton Buy Me Back (each-way)

Buy Me Back made a successful stable debut for Mark Loughnane at Kempton back in March, and though she has failed to fire since, she has slipped to a handy mark. She has shown in her two most recent outings how much early speed she has, leading at Lingfield and Kempton before fading.

That should be a positive here, with Wolverhampton generally favouring horses with the ability to hold a good position, as opposed to those who need time to find full stride. She is less exposed than a lot of her rivals, and, lurking on a dangerous mark, she is very much a player at a big price.
