Fakenham 14.03 – Happygolucky

Happygolucky was a useful novice hurdler last season, finishing third  in two Grade 2’s at Cheltenham and Sandown, before running a cracker in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham festival when finishing fourth.

He made a winning debut over fences, despite the sharp nature of the track at Stratford not looking to be ideal for him. He found plenty for pressure there and while there are some concerns about the sharp track at Fakenham, he can overcome those concerns here. Getaway Trump has been disappointing and isn’t a horse who you would want to be on in a battle.

Paul Nicholls reaches for cheekpieces but he still looks worth opposing, while Limited Reserve needs proper testing ground to be seen at his best. Happygolucky has the most potential of these four and he is most definitely the one to beat.

Limerick 14.25 – Princess Mahler (4 places)

Princess Mahler’s most recent form figures wouldn’t inspire much confidence but she was going to be second at Thurles on her second last start when falling at the last hurdle. Back in December 2018, which was only eight starts ago, she was coming to win her race here over this trip when she fell two out.

She was running off a mark of 96 that day and has won at Limerick previously off a mark of 87. She runs here off a mark of 91 and she looks worth taking a chance on, at what looks sure to be a decent race in a contest where Paddy is paying the first 4 home.
