16:15 Chocco Star

With A Go Go and Slowmo perhaps happier at 5 furlongs, and Turanga Leela not looking in the form required to exploit her lowly mark, this may rest between Under Curfew and CHOCCO STAR. The selection doesn’t help herself at the start, but she’s got the ability to win races off this mark and there should be enough pace on here for her to sweep through late on.

16:45 The Blue Bower

Garth Rockett is the obvious starting point after his easy win at Chelmsford last week and a 5lbs penalty won’t stop him if he’s in the same form. Stronger opposition and a different surface mean that’s not assured though, and there are interesting alternatives. The unexposed Love Love, in-form Lezardrieux and the well-handicapped Glasvegas are possible, but THE BLUE BOWER should find that this is run to suit and she’s marginally preferred.

17:15 Araifjan

Ultra Violet ought to make another bold bid, while A Sure Welcome is on a dangerous mark if he doesn’t mess around too much in the stalls. ARAIFJAN (NAP) has been running well since his breakthrough win here in September and may well be able to make a winning stable debut.

17:45 Castana Dia

The two penalised winners probably face a stiff task up against the less experienced pair Copinet and CASTANA DIA who both finished runner-up in eye-catching style over course and distance last time having lost plenty of ground at the start. Some others, such as Soller Bay, look capable of better but their initial form isn’t so good.

18:15 Kaheall

Although most of this field have shown degrees of promise, KAHEALL looks comfortably at the top of the list judged on his debut display at Doncaster. Oceanline is preferred to Emperor Spirit as the one most likely to follow him home, with Khatwah a newcomer to be checked out.

18:45 Albadr

American Entente and Amniarix are the unexposed pair and need taking seriously but this can fall to ALBADR. He caught the eye with the way he went through the race at Kempton last time and he did well to make up as much ground as he did in the straight. He still has few miles on the clock himself and should be up to winning off this mark.

19:15 Chookie Dunedin

Turaath won well dropped to 7 furlong a fortnight ago, but she’s been held off this mark in handicaps previously and she’ll need to progress again. Zafaranah ran well here last time and can go figure, while I’m Available and In The Red also have something to recommend them. CHOOKIE DUNEDIN hasn’t been at his best the last twice, but the return to 7 furlongs will be in his favour and he may be able to enhance his fine course record.

19:45 Sula Island

Competitive. In-form SULA ISLAND gets the vote, although Combine won in taking style over C&D last time and Toro Dorado stayed on well over 1m 2f at Newcastle. Arabian King is fourth on the list.

20:15 Light Up Our Stars

Global Art and My Target are two appealing options, but the resurgent last-time-out winners LIGHT UP OUR STARS and Sha La La La Lee remain well handicapped on old form and scored in a style suggesting that they can get closer to that today.
