Timeform Leopardstown

13:00 – MR CAFFREY has been running creditably over fences in recent weeks, including when third at this venue last time. This represents a significant drop in grade, and he has a consistent profile that will count for a lot in a race where most of his rivals have something to prove. He is certainly the most solid proposition for the in-form Dr Richard Newland (five winners from last 23 runners).

13:30 – DIOCLETIAN was a useful performer at up to two miles on the Flat, shaping as if still in form when last seen finishing in mid-division in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket. He makes his hurdling debut in this maiden and rates an above-average prospect, likely to take plenty of beating in a race where those with previous experience over obstacles set only a fair standard.

14:05 – TOMORROW MYSTERY looked way ahead of her mark when making a successful return to hurdling at Newbury last week, quickening clear from two out to win by six and a half lengths with plenty in hand. She escapes a penalty for that success and is very hard to oppose as she seeks a fourth win in succession over hurdles, especially as she may yet have more to offer.

14:40 – PONTRESINA remains unexposed over fences after finishing first past the post in both starts to date. He gained compensation for his Fontwell demotion six weeks earlier when winning a handicap at Kempton last time, asserting on the run-in to land the spoils by three quarters of a length (value for extra). He remains with potential and is fancied to continue the positive start he’s made to his chasing career by defying a 4 lb higher mark to follow up.

15:15 – ZARRAR and Aggy With It bring the strongest form credentials into this novice hurdle. The latter confirmed earlier promise to get off the mark at Newton Abbot last time, but preference is for Zarrar, who has proved himself fairly useful in three starts over hurdles for this yard. He will take plenty of stopping with a repeat of the form he showed to finish second at Kempton last time.

15:45 – PETERBOROUGH is thriving as a chaser and completed the hat-trick with another enthusiastic display from the front at Sedgefield last time, winning by six lengths in dominant fashion. His mark is now 27 lb higher than when his winning sequence over fences began, but he’s looked full value for it and remains one to keep on the right side with further progress a distinct possibility.

16:15 – OUTONPATROL has been in good form since returning from wind surgery and 10 months on the sidelines, making a winning reappearance at Warwick and then improving further when third at Lingfield last time. Still far from the finished article, she should continue to climb the ranks as she gains in experience.
