EASY BUCKS was presumably just marking time over hurdles, and he has duly come into his own since being sent chasing. A runner-up at Plumpton on his debut over fences in September, Easy Bucks went one better at Uttoxeter next time out. He probably didn’t beat a whole lot, but getting the job done in likeable enough fashion and winning with plenty in hand.
He looked well-in under a penalty at the same venue last time, but he confirmed himself a staying chaser going places with another clear-cut success, again winning with a fair amount to spare. He is 11lb higher in the weights now, but he is clearly on the upgrade and is difficult to oppose.
MARTINHAL came in for a fair bit of support prior to his bumper debut, and he duly justified that confidence to make his sole start in that sphere a winning one – looking a good staying prospect as he won with relative ease.
Eight months on and he showed a fair bit on his hurdling debut, finishing fourth in a Wetherby novice last month, having every chance three out but just unable to stay the course after the last. He should strip fitter for that outing and ought to relish the testing conditions. He remains open to further progress and makes plenty of appeal.
OUT THE GLEN is not a massive price, but there is an extra place up for grabs in this race, so he appeals as a solid each-way bet. Out The Glen proved a different proposition switched to handicaps last term, quickly racking up a double at Huntingdon and then at this course. He ran well on his reappearance over this course and distance three weeks ago, just unable to get the better of another progressive type. He seems to be going the right way at present and is expected to go well again.
