When is the Mares’ Hurdle 2025? Cheltenham date, start time, runners and betting

Will Lossiemouth turn up to defend her crown?

Lossiemouth en route to winning the Mares' Hurdle

The Mares’ Hurdle is emerging as the most controversial race on this year’s Cheltenham Festival schedule.

That’s because connections of last season’s winner Lossiemouth and the brilliant Brighterdaysahead have been umming and ahing about whether to keep their horses to their own sex or tackle the cream of the crop in the Champion Hurdle.

Gordon Elliott has confirmed Brighterdaysahead will be going to the championship contest and Lossiemouth could follow which means the Mares’ Hurdle, which sees the girls tackle 10 flights over 2m4f on the Old Course, has the potential to be one of the most wide-open renewals of the Fez.

Mares’ Hurdle odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details for this year’s renewal are below.

Lossiemouth is the favourite with Paddy Power to win the Mares’ Hurdle although last season’s winner could be rerouted from the Champion Hurdle to defend her crown despite failing to land a glove on Constitution Hill in the Christmas Hurdle and falling in the Irish Champion Hurdle.
