The Mares’ Hurdle is emerging as the most controversial race on this year’s Cheltenham Festival schedule.
That’s because connections of last season’s winner Lossiemouth and the brilliant Brighterdaysahead could opt to keep their horses to their own sex instead of tackling the cream of the crop in the Champion Hurdle.
If the big two are sent to the championship contest then the Mares’ Hurdle, which sees the runners meet 10 flights over 2m4f on the Old Course, has the potential to be one of the most wide-open renewals of the fez.
Mares’ Hurdle odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details for this year’s renewal are below.

Mares’ Hurdle 2025 betting
Mares’ Hurdle odds are on paddypower.com and prices for the leading contenders can be seen on our snazzy widgets below.
Brighterdaysahead is the favourite with Paddy Power to win the Mares’ Hurdle after getting the better of last season’s Champion Hurdle on two occasions this term.
Lossiemouth is next in our early betting as last season’s winner could be rerouted from the Champion Hurdle to defend her crown after failing to land a glove on Constitution Hill in the Christmas Hurdle.
*Odds quoted on the widget are Future Racing / Antepost prices which means that if your selection does not run in the race for whatever reason – you will lose your stake under traditional Antepost rules
