The Morgiana Hurdle takes pride of place on the Irish racing calendar as the first Grade 1 contest of the season over the smaller obstacles.
It is run over an extended two miles at Punchestown and has been dominated by Willie Mullins as the Closutton maestro has saddled the winner in 12 of the last 13 renewals.
State Man successfully defended his crown in last year’s edition and the Champion Hurdle winner will attempt to bring up a hat-trick to join Hurricane Fly in achieving the feat.
