Galvin is set to take aim at the American Grand National this weekend.
Gordon Elliott’s Grade 1 winner – last seen finishing a creditable fourth in the English Grand National in April – will bid to become the third Irish-trained scorer in the last six renewals of the Far Hills contest.
The American Grand National has little in common with the Aintree race, however, as it clocks in at a considerably shorter distance of 2m5f and the horses tackle hurdles instead of fences.
Galvin is not the only familiar name in the quirky field as one-time Derby favourite High Definition, who subsequently finished seventh in the 2023 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, and Sebastopol, previously trained by Tom Lacey, are also in the mix.
Meanwhile, the winner of last season’s edition, Noah And The Ark, is bidding to become the first horse since five-time winner McDynamo to successfully defend the crown.
