It goes down to the wire in the sixth and final episode of the Champions Full Gallop series on Sunday, as the pulsating fly-on-the-wall documentary shadows the last day of the jumps season at Sandown.
With Willie Mullins bagging the Aintree and Scottish Grand Nationals within a week of each other, he’s leapfrogged the English trainers in their own Championship race. Mullins just needs a couple of victories on the final day to make it mathematically impossible for reigning champ Paul Nicholls’ and former protégé Dan Skelton to catch him in the title race.
It’s still all up for grabs though and to see how the day’s drama unfolds, tune into Virgin Media 1 on Sunday at 6pm to watch the season finale of Champions Full Gallop.

The six-part series encompasses everything that makes racing such a compelling sport, from helmet-mounted cameras that provide the visceral experience of the risk each jockey takes when flying over the jumps, to the charismatic owners – salt-of-the-earth syndicates to landed gentry and even royalty – trainers and stable staff who invest so much time and energy in the welfare of their horses.
Following the dramatic highs and lows of the jockey and trainers championships, the series will take viewers on a journey into racing, providing a unique insight into the sport, its stories and its characters from parade ring to the winning post.
Supported by Flutter and Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has access all areas from weighing rooms to stable yards as cameras follow the dramatic high octane thrills, emotion and drama both on and off the racetrack.
