Paddy Power punter bags £10k bounty from Longchamp Lucky 15

A dramatic day on the trading room floor as three punters celebrate big wins but rue what might have been.

It’s one of the biggest race-days in the calendar and a Paddy Power Mobile customer had more reason that most to make it a day to remember.

Despite missing out on a whopping £360,000 payout had Continuous won Sunday’s last leg of an each-way Lucky 15 at Longchamp, our inspired punter had banged in three winners on the card with Vertical Blue at 50/1 in the Prix Marcel Boussac, Camille Pissarro at 20/1 in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and Makarova at 16/1 in the Prix de l’Abbaye.

Our pal already had a guaranteed windfall of €10k in the kitty before the multiples ran onto Continuous in Sunday’s feature, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Sadly for them – and to much relief at Power Tower – Continuous wasn’t able to get close to brilliant winner Bluestocking and trailed in down the field.

While the punter wasn’t quite able to scoop a potential £360,000, they still pocketed £10,000.

Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said: “When the first leg of your Lucky 15 comes in at 50-1, you’re probably thinking you’re home and hosed when your selection is a mere 33-1 chance in the final leg!

“The punter will probably always be thinking ‘what if’, but to bag £10k from three out of four winning legs isn’t too shabby at all.”

Meanwhile, another prophetic Paddy Power punter will have been shouting to the rooftops as the Ralph Beckett-trained winner swooped to secure a place in the annals of horse racing history.

Exactly two months’ ago (August 6) the backer placed a £7 win treble in one of Paddy Power’s UK shops on Bradsell to win the Nunthorpe Stakes (August 23) at York at 7-1 (SP 3-1), Economics to land the Irish Champion Stakes (September 14) at 12-1 (SP 7-4 favourite) and Bluestocking today at 14-1 (SP 11-2) and all three have now duly obliged.

The punter has turned his £7 into £10,920 amassing a tidy £10,913 profit.

Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said: “It’s fair to say that this punter will have enjoyed the last couple of months and should have a fine evening! Just picking those three winners will have required Mystic Meg-like talents and snapping up some fancy prices will just be the icing on the £11k cake.”

And in the final race at Uttoxeter a 10p each-way Lucky 63 (£12.60) was running onto on Mini Yeats at 11/1* in the 5.20pm at the track, having already watched Camille Pissarro 16/1 (130pm Longchamp), Makarova 14/1 (205pm Longchamp), Bluestocking 9/1 (320pm Longchamp), Rickety Gate 6/1 (425 Kelso) and Breizh River 15/2 (350 Kelso) all win their respective races.

Unfortunately, Mini Yeats was unable to trouble the judge for a potential massive payout but the punter still pocketed £19k in the process.
