The Sprint Cup at Haydock is one of the big prizes on offer to the speediest horses in the game.
It has undergone various changes over the years but has been a Group 1 on the straight course at the testing Merseyside track since the late 1980s.
There has not been a repeat winner since 1967 and the wait continues as last year’s scorer, Regional, will not be back to defend his crown.
