One of the biggest weeks on the horse racing calendar is upon us.
The Galway Races Summer Festival takes place at Ballybrit Racecourse from Monday, July 29 to Sunday, August 4 and there are a bumper 53 contests on the agenda.
The prestigious Galway Plate is the highlight of the fiesta as a maximum field of 22 runners including last year’s winner, Ash Tree Meadow, take aim at the €159,300 top prize.
The Galway Hurdle also offers a mega prize pot, but it is not all about the Jumps as a number of quality Flat races feature on the schedule.

If watching the racing on the telly box is more your speed then you’re in luck because RTÉ One will broadcast four races on the first three days of the meeting, five races on the fourth day before TGV pick up the baton on days five and six.
