It’s finally time for the world’s greatest steeplechase as the Grand National takes centre stage at Aintree on Saturday.
Corach Rambler is bidding to join Red Rum and Tiger Roll in the exclusive club of successive winners but the defending champ will need to bounce back from the exertions of finishing third in last month’s Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The third and final day of the Grand National Festival is not all about the marathon contest, however, as there are three Grade 1s on the schedule including the Liverpool Hurdle which sees the old boy Sire Du Berlais attempt to retain the title.
Brighterdaysahead tries to make amends for her Cheltenham Festival flop in the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle but the likes of Jimmy Du Seuil and Ile Atlantique are in opposition, while Arkle second Found A Fifty bids for compensation in the Maghull Novices’ Chase.
Pertemps Final winner Monmiral is a notable runner in the William Hill Handicap Hurdle and there is further Premier Handicap action courtesy of the Freebooter.
Grand National odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise, everything you need to know about day three of the meeting is below.
