The Mares’ Hurdle provided the most emotional moment of last year’s Cheltenham Festival as the legendary Honeysuckle signed off her career with one last success.
Her 1½l defeat of Love Envoi sparked touching scenes in the winners enclosure for connections, seven months after trainer Henry de Bromhead’s 13-year-old son, Jack, tragically passed away.
Honeysuckle was retired after recording her fourth Cheltenham Festival win so the Mares’ Hurdle crown is set to be passed to a new champion in 2024.
