Willie Mullins is likely to be the dominant trainer at the Cheltenham Festival once again and Paddy Power expert Ruby Walsh has his eye on Ballyburn.
The six-year-old impressed in the Grade 1 Tattersalls Ireland 20th Derby Sale Novice Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival and all focus is now on Cheltenham next month and which race Closutton chief Mullins will put him in.
There are two options on the table as Ballyburn is the favourite in Paddy Power’s non runner money back betting for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and the Baring Bingham Novices’ Hurdle. On the latest edition of our Cheltenham Countdown series, our man Ruby described Ballyburn as the ace in Willie Mullins’ pack at the Fez.
You can check out the latest Cheltenham Festival odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise, Ruby’s thoughts on Ballyburn can be read below.
Ruby Walsh:
I consider Ballyburn as the ace in Willie’s pack and he will most likely go with him where he thinks he needs him. Be it the first race on Tuesday or the first race on Wednesday.
As the fields become clearer and the opposition becomes clearer, I’d say Ballyburn will run where Willie thinks he needs him and he will be hoping he can win either race.
He’s the ace and then it’ll be where could the king and queen win. The decision will become easier the closer you get.
