It’s fair to say Constitution Hill is established as the top dog in the National Hunt game after an all-conquering 2022/23 campaign.
Nicky Henderson’s stable star comprehensively landed the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth, Christmas Hurdle, Champion Hurdle and Aintree Hurdle to add to the Supreme and Tolworth titles won in his novice hurdling season.
The prospect of going chasing in a bid to emulate Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup heroine Dawn Run was floated by connections, although Constitution Hill remains over sticks for the time being. The 2023/24 season has been a nightmare, however, as illness forced him to miss the defence of his Cheltenham Festival title.

Constitution Hill next race
After missing the Cheltenham Festival, Constitution Hill could tackle the Boodles Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on Friday, May 3 to round off a disappointing campaign.
Trainer Nicky Henderson told Unibet: “Unfortunately, Constitution Hill has not much chance at all making Aintree, but if we can get him to Punchestown we will, otherwise he will go straight to the Fighting Fifth at the start of next season.
“We will be doing our best to get him to Ireland, but if he’s not right, he won’t be going anywhere. It’s a shame for every single one of us, but, obviously, he must come first.”
