We were treated to four thrilling days of action as emerging stars, fan favourites and shock winners stole the headlines at last season’s Cheltenham Festival.
The new Jumps season is in full swing after an action-packed winter period and the changing of the calendar means attention is turning to this year’s mega meeting at Prestbury Park, which begs the key question – when does it all take place?
Well, the countdown is well underway as the 2024 Cheltenham Festival is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 to Friday, March 15. Bring it on!
Paddy’s tasked his traders with pricing up non runner money back Cheltenham Festival 2024 betting markets and you can run the rule over those on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app.
Cheltenham Festival 2024 dates
The 2024 edition of the Cheltenham Festival is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, March 12 to Friday, March 15.
The four feature races are: the Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase, Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle and Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Cheltenham Festival 2024 championship races
Date: Tuesday, March 12
Unsurprisingly, Constitution Hill is the favourite in Paddy Power’s Champion Hurdle odds after destroying the field in last year’s edition. The prospect of emulating Dawn Run by going chasing and targeting the Gold Cup was floated but the superstar is sticking to hurdles. He looked as good as ever on seasonal reappearance when smashing his rivals in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton, but a disrupted season has some thinking State Man could put up a serious fight this term.
Date: Wednesday, March 13
Willie Mullins’ emerging jumper El Fabiolo heads Paddy Power’s Champion Chase odds after an dazzling display en route to victory in the Arkle Chase last season. He easily justified odds-on favouritism in the Hilly Way Chase at Cork in December to prove his well being before a facile success in the Dublin Chase. Principal rival Jonbon was two from two for the campaign but a flop in the Clarence House Chase has raised concerns.
PADDY POWER STAYERS’ HURDLE
Date: Thursday, March 14
The Gordon Elliott-trained Teahupoo tops our early Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle odds after finishing third in last year’s renewal when going down by ¾l to Sire Du Berlais. The Robcour-owned gelding claimed a major scalp when downing Impaire Et Passe in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle on reappearance but could have most to fear from stablemate Irish Point.
CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP
Date: Friday, March 15
Galopin Des Champs landed the Blue Riband in thrilling style after a brilliant battle with Bravemansgame and Mullins’ stable star is the early favourite in our Cheltenham Gold Cup odds despite losing to Fastorslow in the Punchestown equivalent and this season’s John Durkan. Any concerns over those two defeats were wiped away, however, when smashing leading rival Gerri Colombe in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas and Fastorslow in the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup. The champ is back!
