The Betfair Hurdle holds the honour of being the most lucrative handicap hurdle on the British horse racing calendar.
A cavalry charge over 2m½f at Newbury, the Premier Handicap boasts a £155,000 pot, with the winner taking home exactly £87,219 for connections. Persian War and Make A Stand landed the race before going on to winning the following month’s Champion Hurdle, although the latest renewal is highly unlikely to produce a Cheltenham Festival contender.
Aucunrisque scored an emotional victory for trainer Chris Gordon in last year’s edition but the reigning champion will not return to defend his crown, meaning a new name will feature on the honours list.
You can run the rule over our Betfair Hurdle odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about this year’s renewal can be found below.

Ocastle Des Mottes, a Listed winner in France, is the favourite with Paddy Power ahead of making a stable debut for Willie Mullins.
Greatwood Handicap Hurdle winner Iberico Lord is next in our betting as trainer Nicky Henderson spies a first winner in the race since 2014.
Altobelli is next in our market after being left alone by the BHA handicapper despite finishing a close third in the Betfair Exchange Trophy last time out.
