The Champion Hurdle is the feature race on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival 2024 – but we will be deprived of a chance to witness equine freak Constitution Hill in full flight.
Nicky Henderson’s stable superstar routed Ireland’s leading hurdler State Man by 9l in last year’s renewal to continue his unbeaten career record, but a dirty scope after an underwhelming gallop unearthed an infection causing the pair’s rematch to be canned.
Other than State Man, quality horses in this division are thin on the ground so a small field is likely to go to post. Constitution Hill bagged more than £250,000 for connections by winning last season’s edition and a similar prize is up for grabs in this year’s scrap.
You can run the rule over our Champion Hurdle odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about next year’s renewal can be found below.
