When is the King George VI Chase 2023? Kempton date, start time, runners and betting

Bravemansgame at the double?

Bravemansgame jumps to victory in the King George

The King George VI Chase is one of the biggest races of the whole National Hunt season on either side of the Irish Sea – and this year’s contest looks wide open.

A true test of speed and stamina over three miles at Kempton’s sharp track, the Grade 1 takes pride of place on the calendar as a proper Christmas cracker and it has been won by some of the greatest horses in the history of the Jumps game.

Bravemansgame was the latest to add his name to the roll of honour after scooting to glory in last year’s renewal to hand trainer Paul Nicholls a record-extending 13th victory.

The prospect of the defending champion scooting to another facile victory at Kempton is in doubt, however, after shock defeats in this season’s Charlie Hall and Betfair Chase.

A talented field is taking shape and as well as Grade 1 glory, a lovely cheque for £142,375 will wing its way to winning connections.

You can run the rule over our antepost King George VI Chase odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about this year’s renewal can be found below.

King George VI Chase odds are on paddypower.com and prices for the leading contenders can be seen on our snazzy widgets below.

Allaho is the favourite with Paddy Power for the King George VI Chase after the dual Ryanair Chase winner successfully returned to the track from a lengthy lay-off by strolling to victory in the Clonmel Oil.

Bravemansgame is next in our early betting as last year’s winner bids to make it back-to-back victories in the race, although his price has drifted after defeats at Wetherby and Haydock.

Shishkin is also prominent in our antepost market despite refusing to race at Ascot and missing out on a prep run for this.

*Odds quoted on the widget are Future Racing / Antepost prices which means that if your selection does not run in the race for whatever reason – you will lose your stake under traditional Antepost rules
