The Breeders’ Cup is billed by our friends on the other side of the pond as the world championships of horse racing.
While that’s quite a big claim to make, a whole host of leading Flat figures from across the globe will descend on Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California for two days of top-class action this weekend.
Plenty of Irish and UK horses have made the trip Stateside for the Breeders’ Cup 2023 from Friday, November 3 to Saturday, November 4 and nearly $30,000,000 is up for grabs across 14 races.
It’s all about the leading juveniles on the opening day of action. Aidan O’Brien saddled two winners on the first day in 2022 and the Ballydoyle master has a couple of leading hopefuls in the final race on Friday as Unquestionable and River Tiber tackle the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf .
Michael Appleby’s Big Evs has been one of the stars of the whole season and the Flying Childers Stakes scorer will attempt to make all in the first race, the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint .
The action ramps up a gear on day two and the big races include the $4million Breeders’ Cup Turf and the $6million Breeders’ Cup Classic, which was won by wonderhorse Flightline a year ago.
It really needs to be highlighted that the Breeders’ Cup Turf looks set to be one of the races of the season as dual Derby hero Auguste Rodin, Champion Stakes winner King Of Steel and Juddmonte International king Mostahdaf face off.
The latest Breeders’ Cup odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise the race times for this year’s meeting is below.
